Fall is officially here and I’m so happy! It’s time to break out those cozy flannels, the fluffiest pumpkin cookies, and the best smelling stovetop potpourri recipe! Our house always smells so festive during the fall thanks to this stuff. It’s so easy to throw together, and seriously makes your whole house smell. Plus, it’s something that you can keep adding to to use for multiple days.
Here’s our go-to stovetop potpourri recipe:
Directions:
1.) Simmer a pot of water – this glass pot is perfect for stovetop potpourri.
2.) Cut 1 apple into small slices and add to the water.
3.) Cut 1 orange into thin slices and add to the water (you can also add the peels if you wanted).
4.) Add 3-5 cinnamon sticks depending on how strong you want this scent to be.
5.) Add a handful of whole cloves and a sprinkle of nutmeg (this ingredient is optional).
6.) Give it a good stir to make sure everything is somewhat covered and let simmer all day.
Tip: Add more water as needed.
The best part about this recipe is that you can shut it off and remove it from the burner, and use it again for a few more days. Just add more water and cinnamon as needed. I’ve used the same pot for about 4 days before the smell started to dwindle.
You can also change up the ingredients, like adding bay leaves to the above recipe or swapping the oranges for lemons.
