Ever since Ethan and I got married, I have ALWAYS wanted a sofa or entry-way table in our house! They’re just NOT cheap. Rather than spend hundreds of dollars on one, Ethan and I drew up a table design and came up with the perfect idea for our home! I wanted something simple and rustic. He did such a great job, because it’s exactly what I was envisioning! I wish I could link this exact table, but I’ll try my best to find and link a couple similar ones for a decent price. Or, if you know anyone personally, like your husband or dad, who can hand-build you a custom design, then that works great too! We spent a total of $75 to make ours!
Affordable Table Lamps
Now on to the fun part. The decorating! I knew I wanted at least one table lamp to put on the sofa table, but after buying just one, I didn’t like the way it looked. So, I ended up going back to the store to get the other one! I originally found artisan glass lamps at Target that I loved, but the price was ridiculously high. I kept looking and found these very similar lamps from Walmart, for half the price of the Target ones. Y’all, let me tell you, these lamps look so high end and are such great quality. Very sturdy and has a hammered detail on the glass.
You do have to buy the lamp shade separate, so I went with a grey shade to match my furniture! You can buy either the large or medium size shade from Walmart, it’s kind of your preference. I personally think a larger shade looks better with this lamp base. I tried the smaller shade in the store and it didn’t cover the top of the lamp base like I was wanting.
Simple Table Centerpiece
For the centerpiece, I wanted something simple and not too crazy. I found this adorable Spanish wine bottle, with the fake leaves from a local antique shop! Our living room has blue accents, so when I saw the color of the vase I knew it would look perfect in our home. If you haven’t ever shopped at a local antique store, then I absolutely recommend giving it a try! I love finding old things and giving it a new home and life again, even if we have to restore them. You never know what kind of cute or unique items you can find at an antique shop, to easily spice up your home for cheap!
Along with the vase, I wanted to add a couple more decorative pieces, so I also found this wooden scrabble block from that same antique shop. I like the way it looks in front of the vase, plus, I didn’t even notice that other than the letter P, it also has the number 3, which is perfect for our little family of 3!
I also have been trying to find the best place to put this Stone Leaf Scentsy warmer. It really needed to be out of the way, and in a place where the fragrance could easily be known. Since we entertain every now and then, I figured next to the couch, on the sofa table, would be the best spot for people to smell it! I am a huge fan of Scentsy products. The fragrance bar I use is called “Cozy Cardigan”, and is one of my favorite scents! I even have the drawer scent boosters in this fragrance, for Remi’s room. I’ll link the exact Scentsy Warmer I have, here and the “Cozy Cardigan” fragrance here for y’all!
Bottom Shelf Decor
On the bottom shelf, I used what I had already around my house. I put this picnic basket that some friends of ours made for us in the middle. It stores all my scent bars from Scentsy, since it is right underneath the warmer. Another option would be to put a blanket-basket there if you didn’t have a picnic basket. That basket might hide your cords alittle better too!
Since the vase is is my pop of color on the table, I knew I needed a pop of black too, since we have some black details in our living room! I found this wooden picture frame at Hobby Lobby, linked here It was originally for one of our bedroom nightstands, but wow was it a lot bigger than I expected! I think it looks better on the sofa table anyways! Adding a pop of color, and a pop of black on a white and stained table really makes the whole piece come together.
The decorative books and vase were more antique store finds, but adds a nice touch to the bottom shelf! You can easily make the book decor yourself, just stack some old books and sit a vase on top. Feel free to even paint or write a short saying on the binder part!
If y’all happen to buy/build a sofa table of your own, and style it, I’d love to see pics, so be sure to send me some or tag me in your pictures on Instagram –> @darianepage
