Anyone else have a major sweet tooth right before bed? 😅 I’ve always had a love for sweets – especially a good old chocolate chip cookie. However, here lately, I’ve noticed that before bed I get a hankering for some type of dessert. Maybe it’s just a pregnancy craving at the moment, but wowza is it intense, haha. So because of my constant sweet tooth, I find myself baking cookies quite a bit and always having the necessary ingredients on hand.
I’ve tried out different cookie recipes throughout these past few years, and slowly started to compile my own ingredients and ratios to get that perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. I think its safe to say I found the winning recipe that we personally love!
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks salted butter – make sure your butter has set at room temperature (this is super important)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 whole eggs
- 12 oz chocolate chips (we use semi-sweet but use whatever you prefer)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees (F). Cream together your sugars, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Then whisk together your flour, baking soda, and salt until incorporated. Slowly add this mixture to the butter mixture, and mix until there are no clumps and the batter is a smooth consistency. Add your eggs and mix well. Then add your chocolate chips. Make sure these are mixed in well, because you want each cookie to have a good amount of chocolate! Bake for 8-9 minutes. Every oven is different, but 9 minutes is the perfect amount of baking time for ours.
Just keep an eye on them – you want the edges to be brown and the middle to have set to where they’re not too gooey. Once they’ve set for a couple minutes, they’re good to enjoy! Also keep in mind, once you take them out of the oven, they will continue to cook on the baking sheet. I let mine continue to cook for another 2 minutes so that the insides are pretty well done.
I’ve found that the key to getting that perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe is making sure your butter is at room temperature, you allow your cookies time to set, and that you use a silicone baking mat. This Amazon one has completely changed the cookie baking game in our house!
This is by far our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, so if you give it a try, let me know what you think!
